Calicoco is the latest project from multi-instrumentalist Giana Caliolo following her time as drummer and vocalist for indie-punks Secret Pizza and as the drummer for garage rockers Pony Hand. Calicoco marks Caliolo's return to the front of a band for the first time since her band Buckets broke up in 2012, and the songs contained on her debut record "Float" are in a sense a continuation of that band's weighty, atmospheric indie rock. The songs on "Float" alternate between the quiet, intimate spaces we find ourselves in and at other times grappling with the world we exist in at large, piecing together the changing seasons with our own personal growths. "Float" gathered acclaim from numerous outlets with GoldFlakePaint describing "Float" as "a gritty burst of guitar pop with the occasional tender glimmer ... a brilliantly formidable, endlessly endearing piece of work" as part of their best of 2018 coverage. On the record Caliolo is joined by Matt Battle (Gold Koa, Taking Meds), Kamara Robideau (Gold Koa), and Andy Baker (Buckets). Her live band is a rotating cast of incredible musicians (Andy Baker, Matthew DeWaters, Brendon Caroselli, Kyle Waldron) and Caliolo excels whether on her own or backed by a full band. - Dadstache Records/JT Fitzgerald
