Oppo is a DC power trio (Amos Tevelow, Finley Martin, Jim Greif) whose live performances in support of their 2019 debut EP have drawn comparisons to Talking Heads, Shudder to Think, Dinosaur Jr., Roxy Music, Television, Wire, The Rapture, Weezer, The Police, The Clash, XTC, Built to Spill, Ween, My Bloody Valentine, Guided by Voices, Afghan Whigs, Bad Brains, Joni Mitchell, Paul Weller, and Donald Fagan. Rollicking rhythms, psychedelic harmonies, and crunchy guitars wrap sharp political content into whimsical ditties about garden ponds, time travel, and delirious love.

ALBUM ARTWORK The artwork for the album (available as framed canvas giclee prints with a CD or digital download) was produced by Oppo's singer-guitarist Amos Tevelow, who inked a series of line drawings on top of cloud photographs over a period of several years. The therianthropic characters are at once grotesque, hilarious, menacing, and cartoonish, and evoke archaic archetypes of emergence and transmutation (Lascaux, the Nephilim, the Annunaki, the Egyptian "First Time" etc.). By arresting what are normally half-formed, fleeting images, the characters offer a kind of communion with primordial creation as well as the uncanny, hidden things beyond language and knowing. A soft vulnerability quivers in this space between worlds and echoes in the core of each of us.
