Knyves Escobar started making music at a very young age. "It’s always been a part of me—I have my dad to thank for starting me young, making sure I was playing instruments (cello, guitar, ukulele, bass) and singing from a young age." She writes and produces her own music as a way to parse through and reflect on painful situations, but has found inspiration in being able to resonate with people who can relate to her own experiences. "I’ve only just started my journey since my first release (Jaded) in November of 2018 and have been so blessed to have had so many dope experiences since. So excited for what’s to come"

The Experience: Hailing from our Nation’s Capital, multi-talented rapper-singer-songwriter The Experience is putting his own soulful spin on the sounds that have shaped the DMV’s music scene. Born-and-raised in DC into a household full of musicians, a young EXP would often find himself tagging along to his father’s gigs with the legendary Go-Go bands Heaven Sent and Arye Rayde. After spending countless evenings watching his father jam out, his early introduction to Go-Go would eventually inspire him to pick up the drums at the age of two. The rest, as they say, is history.
The Experience’s irresistibly bouncy sound blends elements of Hip-Hop, Funk and R&B while paying homage to his Go-Go roots. He draws inspiration from the likes of D’Angelo, Jill Scott and Drake as well as DC Go-Go staples such as New Impressionz and The Backyard Band, and his eclectic tastes allow his infectious personality and unparalleled musical versatility to shine through on every track. His debut project, All For You?, dropped in May of 2019 and features vibrant production and verses from fellow local standouts Innanet James and Soduh.
Following the lead of DMV contemporaries like GoldLink, YBN Cordae and Rico Nasty, The EXP is making his own way while staying true to the sounds of the city that made him.
