Songbyrd Presents

Sunday December 8, 2019

“We met in guitar class” is not a thing many people can say...but Sarah Zimmermann and Justin Davis performed together for the first time on the very same day they met...in guitar class.

Striking Matches went on to release their debut album produced by T-Bone Burnett, and have since released 3 more EPs, many singles, and have had their songs featured on Grey’s Anatomy, American Idol, Nashville, and Monday Night Football, to name a few.

Both lead guitarists, singers and songwriters, Sarah and Justin’s music spans a wide array of sounds and genres, combining pop choruses with blues guitar riffs. Their musical prowess creates an electrifying and unique experience with each live performance.

They are currently in the middle of releasing a new 3 EP project titled “Morning, Noon and Night” each with a different sound and sonic space. While morning, noon and night are three parts of a day, Morning, Noon and Night are meant to be three parts of what makes up Striking Matches.

“Morning” was released in May of 2019 with Noon and Night to follow in early 2020. Striking Matches is currently on an international tour with dates in Europe, the UK, and the US.

Marielle Kraft is a singer-songwriter from Philadelphia, PA with a gift for putting into words what many of us cannot say. True to her story, the Rhode Island native and former middle school teacher finds vulnerability as the avenue to joy, light, and truth, as is rooted in each of her indie pop songs.
Within one year of her budding career, Kraft has delivered a Tedx Talk about Honest in Songwriting, received licensure for 14 TV shows and 2 networks, won the Mid-Atlantic Songwriting Competition, sold out venues across the east coast, and released three highly successful singles (Test Drive, Toothbrush, and Better Without You).

Each of these three singles culminated as Marielle Kraft’s debut studio EP, “The Deep End.” Officially released on July 12th, Kraft’s first effort is notably strong both lyrically and sonically, described by The Music Mermaid as “song after song of mini pop addictions.”
Her command over her lyricism is evident through the success of these first singles, which each reflect her stories with vivid detail, clever word choice, and refreshing taste. The authenticity with which Marielle invites listeners into her story at her live shows cultivates a relationship with them beyond the songs, as her songs are known to “bring together a room full of strangers.”

Kraft’s EP release was directly followed by her first headlining east coast tour. Her “winning personality,” “genuine connection",” and “gift for story telling” on stage have fueled the ever-growing crowds at each of her shows, with no signs of slowing down.
Since leaving her full-time teaching career to pursue a life committed to creating music in summer 2018, Marielle Kraft has promise to follow suit to artists like Julia Michaels and Maggie Rogers as the young songwriter makes a growing impact in the indie pop scene.
