Songbyrd and Not.Alone Present

Friday September 27, 2019

Not Alone. debuts their newest project here at the Byrd on the last Friday of September!

Not.Alone is a band? Collective? Set of musical brothers? (Yeah, sure) The trio of genre-splicing creatives from the DMV (D.C., Maryland, and Virginia), consists of multi-instrumentalist DAETA, singer Marc Amour, and rapper Nomad the Native who pull inspiration from jazz, hip-hop, and soul music to create a musical chimera that moves as freely on stage as it does on wax. Not.Alone makes music that mixes Hip Hop, R&B, and Jazz music with additional influences from a wide array of musical influences. The group has performed all around the DMV, playing at Songbyrd Music House, Velvet Lounge, Funk Parade, and The Black Cat with their sights set on performing on many more stages. The group has released two projects: Black As The Ace Of Spades and the Black Delorean EP.

They aim to spread the message “that you are not alone” empowering listeners through relatable stories of enduring personal struggle, managing insecurity, and overcoming conflict to become greater.

Kassim is a Nigerian-American Indie artist from PG County MD. He uses music and fashion as dual mediums of self expression. His mission is to inspire millions around the world to choose self love over fear. Come witness him as he presents the “So Youthful Experience” LIVE.

Kobbie has been creating and performing music for most of his 26 years. Starting in his dad’s basement turned makeshift studio, the DMV’s own has gone on to open for icons like Ghostface Khillah, and contemporaries like Big Sean and Logic. His first album dropped in March, The Cornerstone, and from it’s smooth, jumping, confident-just-touching-cocky sound, it’s certainly not his first project. Though still building, the singer-rapper-songwriter is in his bag on the album, a perfect display of his ability to blend rap and R&B. He’s certainly not the first to fuse those genres, but with his distinct gritty and yet luxurious sound, he is definitely the next. With The Cornerstone out since March and a laundry list of performances, visuals, and projects forthcoming, Kobbie is poised to break out of the DMV. It’s his time and we’re excited to watch.
