Sam Kogon cites the late-’60s baroque/psych era as his main inspiration, and he’s actually gone on to play with some of his heroes. At the age of 23 he sang lead vocals in the 2015 lineup of The Left Banke ("Walk Away Renee"), and has backed original Beach Boy Al Jardine in his band Al Jardine & Friends. His latest solo album, Psychic Tears, was produced by Sam Evian and features the single “I Was Always Talking,” a duet with Frankie Cosmos (aka Greta Kline). Sam is back in the studio working with producer John Agnello (Kurt Vile, Dinosaur Jr., Cindy Lauper) with new material due out some time later this year.

“I’m sure you’ll notice Sam‘s affinity for power pop and new wave rock along lines of Elvis Costello, Nick Lowe, maybe even T. Rex”

– Alice Cooper

"A sublime patchwork of influence and endeavour, “Psychic Tears” is a dynamic and exquisitely-produced trip through Kogon’s soulful, endlessly inventive mind – and it might well provide one of 2016’s most bold and valiant excursions." - Goldflake Paint
