Harlan began as the high school recording project of now 21 year-old Memphis native Harlan Hutton. Drawing from years of journal entries, Harlan encapsulates pieces of personal history within her songwriting.

Following a three year stint on guitar in local band Melinda, she began sharing her work with frontman Gabriel Hasty, who suggested she flesh out her songs for a full band. Hutton and Hasty began recording demos in late 2016, adding long-time friends Miguel Pilcher (drums) and Griffin Rone (bass) following the release of singles “Forever Endeavor” and “Fingertips” on Bandcamp. After six months of shows between Oxford, Memphis, and Nashville, Harlan recorded her debut EP, “Forever Endeavor” with the help of friend and Nashville audio engineer Jacob Corenflos, released in June of 2017. Over the last year Harlan has found herself opening for bands such as Snail Mail, Chastity Belt, Lala Lala, Hovvdy, and Pujol while working on her self titled debut LP, set to release on June 21st, 2019.

"Memphis-based Harlan Hutton battles the anxiety-inducing moments of a new relationship on this upbeat indie-pop banger." - The FADER

"Harlan are stuck in a maze of feelings on dizzying new single “Anyways”' - The Line of Best Fit
"It all feels so genuinely real and thought out" - We All Want Someone to Shout For

"Harlan Hutton’s voice conjures images of fellow indie-rock queens like Lauren Mayberry (CHVRCHES) or Molly Rankin (Alvvays). The rest of the band is a perfect compliment, running the gamut between peppy indie-pop and swimmy psych-tinged guitar rock." - BuffaBlog

"There is something quite wonderful in the just under three minute song – Forever Endeavor – that just demands one more play... you just know Harlan is a musician from whom you want to hear much more." - Emerging Indie Bands
