The Daguerreotypes is a band always featuring James Samimi Farr and his compositions. An outstanding guitarist, singer, and songwriter, James’ work with The Daguerreotypes explores spirituality and selfhood, yielding songs that are virtuosic, moving, and perplexing. A recent transplant from Canada, James’ efforts to expand the folk idiom have won him such accolades as the CBC Galaxy Rising Star Award, led to collaborations with Alden Penner (ex-Unicorns) and Patrick Watson, as well as appearances alongside Sharon Van Etten, Joe Lally (Fugazi), and Kelly Joe Phelps. As The Daguerreotypes, James released his debut solo EP, Burnt Offering, in 2016.
Stranger in the Alps is a singer-songwriter based in Washington. The 2015 album Pattern Matching earned Stranger in the Alps recognition by the Washington City Paper as the area's "best folk troubadour." The band's next album, The Days Are Over Sooner, will be released later this year.
