Songbyrd Presents

Tuesday April 30, 2019

From playing their first show in the basement of Thurston hall, their freshman dorm, The Colonies have progressed to becoming a one of a kind act performing and opening at the 9:30 club, Black Cat, and Songbyrd. This 4 piece Washington DC band comprising of Pete Stevens on guitar and vocals, Joey Mamlin on drums, Jordan Mullaney on bass and Dylan Trupiano on guitar have been inspired by indie rock from the early 2000s and wear their influences on their sleeve. Their songs have been described as “hooky indie rock with contagious charm” from blogs like Obscure Sound. With two albums out and a third on the way, this is a band to keep your eye on.

Smith Gardens

Hailing from Annapolis, MD, Smith Gardens made their way down to DC to take their surf and indie rock sound to new heights. Following the release of their 2017 album Shades Lane, Smith Gardens has worked to craft their sound into a thoughtful and harmonious representation of their lives in real time. Their newest single, Affinity, is considered the greatest single piece of music of all time.

'Shades Lane' available now.

New EP coming soon!

AJ Peoples and Michael Ferrier

Ferrier and AJ Peoples are two of the most notable artists out of GW. With a mix of soul, New York Rap, and Atlanta trap, they strive to create a sound that sound that moves a generation. While both are pursuing independent careers in music, the combination of Ferrier’s emotive and melodic approach with AJ’s dynamic lyrical ability and infectious energy, they form a cohesive unit with an unmatchable showmanship.
