When we came across Berhana's debut track, "Janet", we were instantly captivated; the song was strikingly fresh, genuinely soulful, and made us feel as if we were already well acquainted with the Brooklyn-based artist. Now, to our great joy, he's returned with his self-titled debut EP, and, with it, he's successfully cemented himself as one of our favorite new acts.
The six-track project begins with "Brooklyn Drugs", a shadowy song built on woozy synths, chilling sirens, and berhana's unique vocal style. However, if
you're hoping for more of the playful, keyboard-based sound he presented in his debut, you'll be happy listening to "Grey Luh". Frank Ocean fans are likely to enjoy "Wade Green", a dreamy, peculiarly structured track that reminds us of Ocean's "Sweet Life", and overall, we're pleased to
say that the remainder of the project is satisfying as well.
