The Soul Gathering is a party for everyone who likes to dance + appreciates the soul & funk sound of the '60s, '70s, and '80s. No cover, no pretension, and no weak tracks, only heavy dance floor material from the classic to the painfully obscure on 45rpm records.

DJ Nitekrawler, who also answers to Kevin Coombe, was born and raised in the suburbs of Washington DC. He fell into a DJ career while attending James Madison University where his forte was rocking the college breakdancing club events, house parties, and shows. Additionally, he started to experiment with music production for both himself and various hip hop artists…...a task which required constant digging trips for new and unusual sample material. Initially short buying trips quickly mutated into time consuming crate digging adventures that left pockets empty. Yet, all was not lost. Time spent in the trenches enabled Kevin to discover a special connection to independently released soul & funk 45s, especially those recorded in the Washington, DC region. That focus spawned various research based projects including a website (dcsoulrecordings.com), magazine articles, an in-process book, and local soul releases including work for Numero Group, Daptone, Kay-Dee, Jazzman, PPU, and Omnivore. He brought his expanding 45s collection to the DJ booth in 1999, eventually launching his first regularly occurring Funk and Soul party in 2004. Kevin began traveling for 45rpm DJ appearances in 2007, appearing at nights like NYC's Bumpshop, Pittsburgh's Title Town, Philly's Little Big Things, Richmond's Soul Power, Austin's The New Day, and others. 2008 saw the launch the longest running (and still-active) funk & soul 45s party in the DC region, "Moneytown", which enabled Kevin to share the stage with the likes of Prince Paul, Cash Money, Chairman Mao, Dante Carfagna, George Mahood, The Scorpio Brothers, David Haffner, Jason Perlmutter, and others.
